Get a Free $20 Credit to Rue La La {by invite only} + Upromise Deal

How many of you have heard of this awesome site called Rue La La?  It’s pretty neat – you can score designer items at 30-80% below retail from names like L.A.M.B {Gwen’s line}, to Calvin Klein.

It’s an invite-only site, so you have to have someone invite you in order to register to take advantage of the hot sales.  They have different designers everyday or so, and the sales only last for a few days as well.  And, if you sign up now, you will immediately get a $20 credit to use on anything you want on the site! That could make for free stuff when items are on clearance!

And, what’s even better is the fact that they are partnered up with Upromise {Start Your Kid’s College Savings Today – Join Now}, so what that means is, you get cash back to save for college when you shop through the Rue La La Upromise link!  Now that’s what I call smart shopping 😉

What’s Your Score? Why Credit Is So Important!

As a former loan officer turned SAHM, I am very passionate about helping others manage their finances and finding ways to save money.  That’s why I want to share this great info with you about why your credit score is so important!  When I was 18, I didn’t know any better.  My friends and I would go shopping and literally apply for credit cards at every store we went to.  My parents would have killed me had they known that’s what I did.  And let me tell you, I paid for it 10 years later!  Not a smart choice.

No matter what your current financial situation is, credit is critical in today’s world.  Even if you have an 820 {and yes, I’ve seen it that high on credit reports!  You can check your score here at}, you still need to be vigil in maintaining your awesome score.  The FTC {Federal Trade Commision} estimates as many as 9 million Americans have their identity stolen each year.  In fact, I’ve had mine stolen. Didn’t matter that I worked in banking for 10 years, and knew {well, thought I knew} all the steps to take to prevent it from happening.  I had alerts set up to email me whenever something on my report changed, but even with that, it was too late. And it happened while I was visiting family out of state during Christmas.  Ugh.  I was so sick to my stomach, let me tell you.  I was this close to flying down to Florida where it happened and going all Beth-Dog-The-Bounty-Hunter’s-Wife on whoever it was who did this to me.  Thankfully, the alerts notified me, and I was able to clear everything up within about 3-4 months.  That was a lot of paperwork and phone calls, and time.   And who knows if they ever caught the people.  I sure hope so.

The FTC has numerous resources on their site regarding credit.  You can read several featured publications regarding identity theft here, and read about how to be responsible with your credit here.  And, as you may already know, if you are a military family, or in the military yourself, credit is even more important, as it can get you into a lot of hot water with your unit if you don’t manage it right!
